San Beda College is still unstoppable as the Red Lions listed their flawless 2-0 record after pinning down the Lyceum Pirates, 91-86, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Division at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.

But even before the Red Lions came away with their hard-earned second win, the Lyceum Pirates gave them an intensely wild match to remember.

Unlike the usual commanding hold the Red Lions have been doing onset of every game, everything was bizarre for the Mendiola-based squad as Lyceum, aided by the huge presence of Mike Nzeusseu, forged more than one deadlocks from the second quarter up to the payoff period.

More so, Nzeusseu was really a massive hindrance that the Red Lions could not get a hold of.

It also did not favored San Beda that Lyceum’s towering reinforcement made it difficult even for Donald Tankoua and Arnaud Noah to deny the paint baskets that Nzeusseu was making.

The Pirates’ hopes went on a skyrocket when they edged San Beda during the crucial moment of the payoff period, which then sent the San Beda faithful to cling on their seats.

But the celebration of Lyceum was short-lived, as Filipino-American Davon Potts exploded anew and fired the next 7 points which put the Red Lions back at the driver’s seat, 88-85.

Coach Topex Robinson’s wards hoped to return the favor and poised for another basket to regain the lead from San Beda, but Donald Tankoua was at the right place at the right time to sink a jumper and eventually close the wild match.

Davon Potts scored a team-high of 19 points, while Dan Sara and Arnaud Noah had 14 and 12 hits, respectively, for San Beda.

In addition, Javee Mocon and Donald Tankoua combined for 21 markers for the Red Lions.

It is the other way around for the Lyceum Pirates.

Wilson Baltazar paced Lyceum with 24 points, while Mike Nzeusseu had 18 markers for the Pirates, who sank to their 0-2 win-loss slate.
