San Beda went to other sources in the absence of team captain Dan Sara as it routed Emilio Aguinaldo, 91-76, on Tuesday to remain at the helm in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Division at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.
Radge Tongco, Robert Bolick and Jomari Presbitero took care of the backcourt chores in the absence of Dan Sara, who was ruled out after fracturing a finger in a freak accident during practice, to help propel the Lions to their third win in row.
Tongco, who was named co-captain, came off the bench and unloaded a team-high 22 points in just 17 minutes while Bolick held his own in a starter’s role with five points, six boards and three assists.
Jose Presbitero, for his part, was equally impressive and wound up with eight points, six dimes, four boards and a steal.
“We filled in the Dan Sara void by committee,” said San Beda coach Jamike Jarin.
