San Beda leaned on Donald Tankoua as it defeated Perpetual Help on Tuesday, 88-70, to grab the solo lead with a perfect 5-0 record in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Division at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.
Tankoua bested both Bright Akhuetie and Prince Eze by bulldozing his way to 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
In addition, three-point shooter AC Soberano finished with 15 points anchored on his five treys, followed by Robert Bolick with 12 markers for the still unbeaten Red Lions.
However, San Beda Head Coach Jamike Jarin noted that despite being undefeated, they still should not be complacent enough to celebrate.
Jarin noted that the Red Lions still have two of the most gritty contenders to be aware of, namely the Mapua Cardinals and Letran Knights.
“Everybody is stacked up. We are undefeated, but Mapua and Letran are still close at 4-1 (win-loss record). So it’s still very early”, the Coach declared.
On the other hand, Perpetual Help Team Captain Gabriel Dagangon capped off with 14 points, while Nigerian force Bright Akhuetie had 13 points for the Altas, yet all in a losing effort.
The formerly Aric Del Rosario-mentored Altas went down to their 2-2 slate.
