Dropping its first three games in the NCAA Season 92 Seniors Basketball Division, Lyceum of the Philippines University needed an inspiration or two to get things going in their season campaign.
They got just what they needed, and so much more in rookie Adrian Alban.
Alban put up a string of impressive performances as he led the Lyceum Pirates to victories over Jose Rizal University and College of St. Benilde after a sluggish start this Season 92.
For his impressive exploits, he was given the ACCEL Quantum Plus – 3XVI NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award.
Alban scored 19 points, including 10 in the final quarter, in their 69-66 shock victory over the JRU Heavy Bombers, which was then followed by a 21 point performance against the Benilde Blazers to put the Pirates back in the middle of the standings with a 2-3 win-loss record.
For Alban, there was no way that he will let the opportunity slip the moment as he was given the chance to prove his worth.
In his all-out effort to show that he is not a one-game wonder, the 21-year old guard worked even harder after his breakout game which then paid off for him.
“Last game, nung JRU, tinext agad ako ni Coach Topex (Robinson) na huwag ako makuntento sa isang magandang laro”, Alban started.
“Every practice after nun, mas hinihigitan ko pa yung practice ko para mag-tuloy-tuloy yung laro ko”, the rookie added.
Alban’s latest performance was so impressive that he even bested San Beda’s Davon Potts for the plum.
Potts put up 31 points in their 101-86 comeback win against Arellano University, but Alban’s back-to-back outstanding games were just too much to overcome
