From a sluggish start in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Division, Lyceum climbed its way up to the middle of the standings as the Pirates got the best of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 83-79, on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.
The Pirates made up for the three-straight losses they prematurely tallied with three consecutive wins which basically alleviated them just between the standings of Season 92.
Another monstrous performance was seen in action from Mike Nzeusseu, who bested with a double-double output of 26 points and 24 caroms to power the underdogs-no-more Lyceum Pirates.
Coach Topex Robinsons’ wards had a strong grip on the driver’s seat for most parts of the joust, but the Michael Calisaan-captained San Sebastian Stags simply would not go down without a fight.
With just under a minute left in the final canto, San Sebastian got closer to Lyceum after Ian Valdez sunk a trey from the arc.
Yet the celebration was short-lived for the Stags as Nzeusseu replied with a two-pointer for the Pirates which put the joust to an end.
Alongside Nzeusseu, Wilson Baltazar added 14 hits, while Shaq Alanes and Jesper Ayaay had 10 points apiece for the Pirates.
On the other hand, pint-sized guard Ryan Costelo made 23 points for the San Sebastian Golden Stags, who fell to their ill-fated 1-5 win-loss slate.
