Allwell Oraeme and Darell Menina teamed up to power Mapua Institute of Technology to an emphatic 79-75 win over defending champion Letran Knights to finish inside the magic four after the first round on Tuesday, in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Division at the FilOl Flying V Arena, San Juan.
The hard-earned win led the Cardinals to their 6-3 win-loss record to sustain their hopes of being in the Final Four again this Season 92.
Menina and Oraeme combined for 20 fourth quarter points to outscore the Knights, who scored just 17 the whole period to help propel Cardinals to victory.
Alongside the Oraeme-Menina duo, Joseph Eriobu also did his share of 19 markers for Coach Atoy Co’s Cardinals.
The Knights relied on the joint force of Bong Quinto, Jomar Sollano, and Rey Nambatac, yet to no avail as the Cardinals poised to turn back the reignng titlist before closing the first round of eliminations.
Letran skidded to No. 5 with a 5-4 overall standing card.
