MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian rolled past Mapua, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13, yesterday to force a three-way tie for the lead with defending champion St. Benilde and San Beda in women’s play of the 92nd NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Reigning back-to-back MVP Grethcel Soltones slowed down with seven hits after a 25-hit effort against Arellano U while Katherine Villegas and Nikka Mariel Dalisay took charge with nine and eight points, respectively, as the Lady Stags scored a big follow-up to their come-from-behind 23-25, 26-28, 25-19, 25-18, 15-12 win over the Lady Chiefs.

The Lady Cardinals, led by Katrina Racelis’ eight points, took their second straight defeat.

Earlier, Mapua turned back San Sebastian, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, to join San Beda on top with two wins in the men’s side.

Angelo Jose Pertierra paced the Cardinals with 17 points while Raven Evangelista and Alfredo Pagulong contributed 13 and 12 markers, respectively.

In juniors’ action, reigning titlist Perpetual Help routed San Beda, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12, for the solo lead with a 2-0 slate.
